Focus on Your Process

You know that phrase we hear all the time in the weight loss world... I know what to do, I just need to do it. Every time I hear it, I think about how misleading that idea actually is. Because most of the time, we don’t really know. We just think we do.

And honestly, I will always bet on the person who is taking action over the one who is overthinking. The person who is just starting out, maybe trying a new eating plan, showing up to move their body each day, drinking water, sleeping as best they can, and figuring it out as they go. That person is learning what to do in real time. They are not worried about having the perfect strategy before they take the first step. They just go.

What ends up happening with most people is they get caught in the cycle of thinking. Consuming too much content. Trying to figure out what the best plan is. But they never actually get to the doing part. And that's where the results come from. You get your head right on Sunday, set your goals, and then spend the next six days doing. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to be consistent.

Now, the other part of this is unlearning. I posted a quote from Yoda the other day... You must unlearn what you have learned. And in weight loss, that could not be more true. There’s so much misinformation out there. We’ve been told carbs are evil. That you can’t have chocolate. That success means restriction. And I’m here to tell you it doesn’t.

I’ve been eating fruit, toast, even dark chocolate every day and still lost weight. Because I’m consistent. Because I move my body. Because I eat based on my preferences, not someone else’s rulebook. The truth is, your preferences matter. They are the foundation of a plan you can stick to.

The key is setting up a framework that includes minimum daily actions. Things like eating a balanced meal, drinking water, moving your body, getting some sleep, and managing stress. Tie those into weekly goals. Track progress every couple of weeks. Adjust based on what you see, not what someone else says.

So before you say you know what to do, ask yourself... do I really? Or do I need to start doing and learning as I go? Because doing is where the growth is. Doing is where you develop confidence. Doing is what leads to lasting results.
