Hey there. One of the most helpful things I’ve done for my weight loss journey is also one of the simplest. I started my days with a question. It wasn’t anything complicated or dramatic. I just added a reminder in my phone that said, “What did I do right yesterday?”
Every morning, that reminder pops up and I take a minute to think. That’s it. And I’m telling you, it has completely shifted the way I see my progress.
So go ahead and do it now. Open your calendar app. Add a daily reminder that goes off right after your morning “thank you” alarm, if you use one. Title it with that question. “What did I do right yesterday?”
Here’s why this works. The minute you start your day by thinking about what went well, your brain starts building a different kind of momentum. Maybe you drank more water than usual. Maybe you chose a balanced meal instead of fast food. Maybe you made it to the gym, or maybe you took a rest day because your body needed it. These are all wins. They matter.
This simple daily question helps you shift away from comparison. You’re not worrying about what someone else posted online. You’re not measuring yourself against another person’s journey. You’re focusing on your journey. Your wins. Your effort.
Over time, this becomes automatic. No, it’s never perfect. I still catch myself comparing from time to time. But now I have a habit in place that pulls me back. It’s one of those small practices that makes a huge difference.
I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it. Simple works. You don’t need some fancy system to build a healthy mindset. You need something that fits into your life and helps you focus on what actually matters.
So go set that reminder. Make it daily. Include weekends. Your journey doesn’t take days off and neither should your mindset work.
