Confidence Is a Choice You Can Make Today

Hey there. For most of my life, I thought confidence was something I had to earn. I believed that if I just lost the weight, hit a certain number, or looked a certain way, I’d finally feel confident. But here’s what I’ve learned, “Confidence is not something you wait for. It’s a choice you make.”

That might sound overly simple, but it’s true. You can decide right now to trust yourself, believe in yourself, and carry yourself with the assurance that you belong. This doesn’t mean you stop taking action toward your goals. It means your actions become a way to reinforce your belief in yourself, not prove it.

The problem with chasing confidence through action alone is that it’s never enough. If you think your worth depends on what you do, every setback becomes proof that you’re not good enough. Every doubt, every slip-up, every obstacle chips away at you. That’s why so many of us feel like we’re constantly starting over.

You’ve already reinforced beliefs about yourself before, they just haven’t always been the positive kind. Think about the labels you’ve carried your whole life. When something happens, you might think, “See, this is why I am the way I am,” and it becomes a self-fulfilling loop. If we can do that with negative beliefs, we can do it with positive ones too.

So what if you flipped the script? What if you decided to believe in yourself first, and then let your actions back it up? That’s the difference. You’re not looking for proof anymore. You’re building on a foundation that’s already solid.

This is also about how you carry yourself. I live with Cerebral Palsy, which affects most of my body. Some people stare. People make assumptions. I can’t control that. What I can control is how I show up in the world. I wear my Confident Always and Forever shirts because they’re not just words. They’re a declaration. They’re a reminder to myself and a message to everyone around me that I choose confidence.

The same goes for your weight loss journey. You will always have choices to make. You will always have opportunities to learn from your decisions. But when you operate from a calm, deliberate mindset, those choices become clearer. You’re not chasing confidence anymore — you’re living it.
