Hey there. We all know what to do. When it comes to weight loss, fitness, or really any goal in life, the steps are usually pretty straightforward. Yet, so many people get stuck in thinking mode instead of doing mode.
How many times have you heard someone say, “I know what to do, I just need to do it”? Maybe you’ve even said it yourself. But here’s the truth—the knowing part doesn’t mean anything if you’re not taking action.
Action Beats Overthinking Every Time
I’d take someone who decides to start walking—even if they can only make it halfway down the street—over someone who spends all their time researching the “best” workout routine. The person who starts moving, tracks their progress, and keeps showing up is going to see results. Meanwhile, the person who spends hours reading about fitness and never applies anything will stay exactly where they are.
It all comes down to action. If you’re taking action, everything else will fall into place. But if you’re stuck in idea mode, waiting for the “perfect” time to start or the “optimal” plan, you’ll never get anywhere.
The Switch Doesn’t Flip Until You Take Action
People talk about waiting for motivation, as if one day a switch will just flip and suddenly everything will be easy. That switch doesn’t flip unless you’re already doing the work.
And here’s the dangerous part—if you spend too much time just talking about fitness with other people who are also just talking about it, you can trick yourself into feeling like you’re making progress. But if no one in that circle is actually taking action, it’s just empty discussion.
It’s Never Been Easier to Take Action
If you’ve started working on your fitness within the last year or two, talk to someone who tried this back in the ‘90s. There was no streaming workouts, no cheap gym memberships you could cancel anytime, and no social media groups for support. Now, you have every tool you could possibly need—if you actually use them.
So while it’s great to have access to resources and support, make sure you’re surrounding yourself with people who push you toward action, not just debate.
If you need a push, let me know. I’ll nudge you in the right direction. And if you want structured support to help you take action and stay consistent, check out The YLF Experience.
