Redefining Strength: Masculinity and Mental Health

I had a chance to sit down with Sam Chang for this episode of The YLF Chats Podcast. If you’re not familiar with Sam, he’s a coach, a content creator, and someone who shares openly about living with cerebral palsy and chronic pain.

We covered a ton of ground in this conversation. Sam talked about how he’s learned to accept his body as the “meat sack” that gets him through life, even as he continues to struggle with body image and the challenges of chronic pain. He shared how his role as a coach allows him to channel his knowledge and passion into helping others achieve their goals—even when his own body isn’t able to do what it once could.

We also dug into the broader issues of masculinity, mental health, and how societal norms shape our identities. Sam brought incredible insight into how social media can both connect and isolate us and how important it is to create safe, inclusive spaces for people to figure out who they really are.

This episode is all about perspective, self-discovery, and challenging the narratives we’ve been handed. I think you’re going to get a lot out of it.
