Why You Still See the Old You After Weight Loss
One of the hardest things for people after weight loss is realizing the insecurity did not automatically disappear.
You probably are proud of the progress you have made “nice job by the way”.
You improved your habits, lost the weight and changed your lifestyle. However, you look in the mirror and still feel like the same person.
That is where body noise starts getting loud.
A lot of people call this body dysmorphia online but what many people are really experiencing is years of reinforcement telling them their happiness, confidence and worth were tied to changing their body.
Then the body changes, but the thoughts stay.
And honestly, the faster the weight loss happens “it’s faster than ever for many people onGLP-1 medications”, the more time your mind may need to catch up with your body.
But there is another important part.
You are not “old you versus new you.” You are the same person moving through different stages of life. The version of you from before weight loss is not someone you need to hate or run away from.
That version of you deserved appreciation too.
The goal is not to spend your life in a constant mental tug of war with your body. The goal is to quiet the body noise by learning to appreciate yourself at every stage.
