Hey there. When it comes to health and fitness, I believe the most important factor is not the plan you follow, but the story you tell yourself. For many of us, that story has been forming for years. Some of you may have been on this journey for decades. You’ve tried different diets, different workout routines, and different approaches, and over time you’ve created a narrative about who you are in relation to food, exercise, and your body.
Maybe your story is that you need to get it together and be more disciplined. Maybe it’s that you are disciplined but still not where you want to be. Or maybe your story has been shaped by frustration, with big ups and downs in both the number on the scale and how you feel about yourself. Whatever that story looks like right now, I want to encourage you to take a step back and recognize that you can rewrite it.
The truth is, you’ve already learned a lot along the way. You know what foods work well for you and which ones don’t. You know what types of movement make you feel strong, capable, and energized. You’ve seen what routines you can stick with and which ones fade out over time. These lessons are not failures. They are skills you’ve built through experience, and they’re the foundation for building a new narrative.
The inside/out approach is about more than calories or workouts. It’s about looking at the dialogue you have with yourself every day. If your self-talk is rooted in shame or frustration, you’ll stay stuck in the cycle of “starting over.” But if you begin to reinforce a story of confidence, capability, and worth, you’ll start to see real progress that lasts.
I want you to trust yourself. I want you to believe that you are capable of navigating your day, making choices that align with your goals, and appreciating the person you see in the mirror. That appreciation isn’t just about the physical reflection, but about valuing the person you are underneath.
The health and fitness industry spends billions marketing against your insecurities. The world around you will throw challenges your way. But at the end of the day, you are responsible for your story. And once you realize that, you also gain the power to rewrite it.
If you’re ready to start building a new story and reinforcing it with daily actions, I’d love for you to join one of The YLF Experience. Together, we’ll take the skills you already have, add structure and support, and build a process that helps you rewrite your narrative and finally see lasting results.
