Hey there. There is one question that I think changes everything when it comes to how you live your life. Who are you? Not who you are to other people, not the roles you play, but who you are to yourself.
For most of us, the answer is not so simple. We get so wrapped up in being a spouse, a parent, a friend, or an employee that we forget who we were before all of those roles came into the picture. We let the labels and responsibilities define us so much that, somewhere along the way, our own identity gets buried.
The truth is, for many people, that sense of self was last fully present in childhood. Maybe it was the curiosity you had about the world. Maybe it was the hopes and dreams that felt limitless. I remember when I was eight years old thinking that, once I had my driver’s license, I would go to Chuck E. Cheese every day after school. It was unrealistic, but it was pure joy and possibility. There is something about that innocence and curiosity that we can carry into adulthood if we choose to.
Of course, I’m not saying you should live exactly like your five or eight year old self. You still have responsibilities and commitments, and those matter. But you can bring that spark into how you approach your day. You can live in a way that feels fulfilling to you, not just in service of what everyone else expects. That’s what living an inside/out life is all about. It’s building a life where your actions are aligned with your true values and identity.
The problem is that so many people wake up in their thirties, forties, or beyond and realize they have no idea who they are anymore. They’ve been living for years on autopilot, chasing goals or milestones that don’t actually make them happy. I don’t want you to get to the end of your life and look back with regret. I want you to feel connected to yourself right now, so you can make choices that you’ll be proud of later.
If you’re on a weight loss journey, this is especially important. The fitness industry is constantly telling you that happiness is somewhere outside of you, waiting in the form of a smaller body or a perfect meal plan. But if you’ve been doing this for years, you probably know that’s not the whole story. You need to know who you are and build your goals from there. That’s when your habits, your fitness, and your mindset all start to align.
If you’re ready to explore that connection with yourself and start living from the inside out, I would love to help you do it. You can join The YLF Experience and begin building a life that reflects who you truly are.
