In this episode of The YLF Chats Podcast, I sat down with one of my favorite people to talk mindset, effort, and finishing what you start—Zachary Fenell.
You might know Zach from the CP community, his blog, or his books. He’s someone who openly shares his life with cerebral palsy and uses that platform to challenge the assumptions people make. But today, we focused on something different—his journey as a marathoner and how that journey has shaped him.
We talked about finishing races in last place. Literally. We unpacked what that felt like early on, how our mindsets have evolved, and why finishing matters more than where you place. Zach shared powerful stories about what it's like to walk for 10 hours straight, the mental push it takes to keep going, and how showing up again and again is a form of victory.
This was a reflective conversation filled with honesty, laughter, and a ton of insight. If you've ever struggled with the idea of not being fast enough, not being "fit enough," or not meeting traditional race standards—this one’s for you.
