Why Rapid Weight Loss Can Feel Mentally Disorienting

Your body can change faster than your mind knows what to do with.

That may be one of the stranger parts of significant weight loss, especially when a GLP 1 changes more than the number on the scale. Your appetite may feel different. Food may take up less space in your head. Routines that once felt familiar may suddenly feel unnecessary. Other people may respond to you differently.

Meanwhile, some part of you may still be operating from an older version of yourself.

I think that space deserves patience.

It can be tempting to immediately decide who this new version of you is supposed to be. But maybe the first step is simply getting everything out. What are you thinking? What are you feeling? What are you excited about? What are you grieving? What no longer fits?

None of it has to make sense yet.

You may not need to reinvent yourself overnight.

You may just need enough space to notice which parts of your old story you want to keep, which parts you are ready to leave behind, and what you might want to create next.
