GLP-1 And The Identity Shift You Need To Understand
Who are you becoming as you're losing weight?
That question has always mattered, but it matters even more now with GLP-1 medications accelerating results.
Because here’s the truth. Your body can change faster than your mind can keep up.
And when that happens, there’s a disconnect.
You look different. You see the progress. But internally, you don’t feel like a completely different person. You’re still carrying past versions of yourself, past beliefs, and past experiences that shaped how you see yourself.
That’s what I call the identity gap.
And it’s something a lot of people are experiencing right now.
For years, weight loss has been tied to identity. People believe that once they lose the weight, they’ll feel confident, comfortable, and fully aligned with who they want to be.
But that’s not how it works.
Weight loss is physical. Identity is emotional.
And if you don’t build your identity alongside your results, the results can feel temporary or incomplete.
This becomes even more noticeable when weight loss happens quickly.
You don’t have time to mentally adjust. You don’t have time to build the habits and behaviors that reinforce who you’re becoming. So instead of feeling grounded in your progress, you can feel disconnected from it.
This is where most people start to question things.
Why don’t I feel how I thought I would feel?
The answer is simple.
Because identity isn’t created by the outcome. It’s created by the actions you take and the meaning you give those actions.
That’s why I always come back to this.
You’re not just losing weight. You’re building a lifestyle.
And that lifestyle has to include:
The habits you repeat
The way you treat yourself
The way you see yourself
The values you choose to live by
This is where your forever active lifestyle comes in.
It’s not something you earn when you hit a certain weight. It’s something you build while you’re on the way there.
So instead of asking yourself, “How much weight have I lost?”
Start asking:
Who am I becoming?
Because that answer will determine whether this lasts.
