Giving All the Credit Away Can Hurt Your Progress

There’s something I want you to think about if you’re currently losing weight with the help of a GLP-1 medication.

Who are you giving credit to right now?

Because this matters more than you might realize.

I’ve had conversations with people over the years who have lost weight in just about every way you can imagine. Diets, programs, tools, procedures, all of it. And one pattern shows up over and over again.

When the results come, the credit gets handed entirely to the tool.

Now we’re seeing the same thing happen with GLP-1 medications.

The scale is going down, which is great. But mentally, a lot of people are saying, this is the medication doing this, not me.

And that creates a problem.

Because when you give away the credit, you also give away your sense of control.

If the medication is the reason for your success, then what happens when it’s gone? Or when it doesn’t work the same way anymore?

That’s where people start to feel stuck. That’s where they start to feel like they can’t do this on their own.

But here’s the truth.

You’re still the one making decisions every single day.

The medication isn’t choosing your meals.
It isn’t planning your routine.
It isn’t forcing you to stay consistent.

You are still showing up.

You are still participating.

And that matters.

One of the biggest things I focus on with Your Level Fitness is helping you build a lifestyle that actually works for you long term. Not something that only works because of one specific tool.

Because life changes.

Your priorities shift. Your schedule evolves. There will be times where weight loss is not your main focus, and that’s okay.

What matters is that you’ve built something that you can come back to. Something that fits you.

The problem with the weight loss industry is that it pushes outcomes over everything else. It sells you the result, not the process.

But the result is built on your actions.

And your actions come from your identity.

If you don’t see yourself as someone who can do this, then it doesn’t matter what tool you use. You’ll always feel like you’re relying on something outside of yourself.

I don’t want that for you.

The medication can absolutely be a helpful tool. It might be helping you lose weight in a way you never have before. That’s a great thing.

But it’s still a tool.

Underneath all of this is you. A person who is capable, experienced, and more aware than you give yourself credit for.

You’ve lived your life. You know your patterns. You know what works for you and what doesn’t.

And instead of outsourcing that belief, it’s time to start building it.

Start with your preferences.
Start with what you actually enjoy.
Start with what you can realistically stick to.

That’s how you build something sustainable.

Not by chasing the next tool. Not by giving away your credit.

But by recognizing that you are part of this process.

You always have been.
