Before You Blame Your Willpower for Thinking About Food
You thought about food when you were not hungry.
What did you make that mean about you?
That you lack discipline? That you have no self control? That you are out of control around food?
Before you go there, look around.
Food is constantly being marketed to us. It is on our phones, in conversations, on television, in restaurants, in podcasts, and woven throughout everyday life.
Of course some of those messages are going to become thoughts.
That does not tell you what you have to do with the thought.
Maybe the more interesting question is not, “Why can’t I stop thinking about food?”
Maybe it is, “Where did this thought come from, and what am I making it mean about myself?”
Write about that for a while.
There does not have to be a correct answer.
There just has to be yours.
