Why Simplicity Changed My Approach To Weight Loss
At one point, I thought my weight loss journey had to feel exciting to be working.
New workouts. New recipes. New plans. I was always looking for something different.
And every time I found something new, I felt motivated again. For a little while.
Then I would fall off, get frustrated, and start over.
That cycle went on for years.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that I wasn’t building anything sustainable. I was chasing novelty.
Everything changed when my routine started to feel… boring.
My workouts became more consistent, but not extreme. Most days, I was operating at a six or seven out of ten effort. My meals became simpler. I stopped trying to make every meal something new and exciting.
At first, I thought something was wrong.
But then I started to notice something.
I was actually sticking with it.
That’s when it clicked.
Consistency isn’t exciting. It’s repeatable.
When you remove the need for everything to feel new, you create space to build momentum. You’re no longer relying on motivation. You’re relying on structure.
That’s a completely different approach.
I also started focusing more on my preferences. Instead of forcing myself into a plan, I built my routine around what I actually enjoyed and what I could realistically do with my schedule.
That made everything easier to follow through on.
And over time, those simple, repeatable actions started to add up.
The biggest shift for me was understanding that weight loss is not about doing something new every day. It’s about making decisions you can repeat consistently.
That’s not flashy. It’s not exciting.
But it works.
If you’re in a place where things feel a little repetitive, I want you to take a step back before you change anything.
That might be exactly where you need to be.
Because when your routine feels normal, when it fits into your life without constant effort, that’s when you’re building something that lasts.
