The Risk of Undereating While on GLP-1

If you’re on a GLP-1 right now, you might be experiencing something that feels new.

You’re not thinking about food the way you used to. The constant noise around eating might be quieter. You may even find yourself needing to remind yourself to eat.

And for a lot of people, that feels like relief.

But there’s something important to pay attention to.

You still need to make sure you’re eating enough.

It can be easy to assume that eating less is always better, especially if weight loss is the goal. But there’s a point where eating too little can start to work against you.

You might notice your energy dropping. You might feel like you’re just getting through your day instead of actually living it. And over time, this can impact things like muscle retention, overall strength, and how your body feels.

This is where it’s important to take a step back.

GLP-1 medications can help regulate your appetite, but they don’t remove the need to support your body with enough nutrition.

And this is also where your situation becomes very individual.

Your body, your history, your goals, and your medical background all play a role in what “enough” looks like for you. That’s why it’s so important to take these questions to your doctor and talk through what makes sense for your specific situation.

From a behavioral standpoint, there’s something else to consider.

There’s a tendency to think that if a small calorie deficit works, then a larger one must work even better.

But that’s not always how this works.

Sustainability matters.

Your energy matters.

Your ability to show up for your life matters.

The goal isn’t to eat as little as possible. The goal is to find a level where you feel satisfied, supported, and able to keep going.

Because this isn’t just about losing weight.

It’s about building something you can maintain.

If you can find that balance, where you’re in a deficit but still feel like yourself, still have energy, and still feel in control of your day, that’s where real progress starts to happen.

And that’s something worth building.

If you’re new to Your Level Fitness and you want to build a way of eating that actually fits your life, you can start here.
