Getting to know you…

Name: Paul Fee

Where’s the best place for listeners to connect with you?: Instagram

What are your interests outside of fitness? : I just finished up being a track coach and enjoy the sport of track and field. I specifically coached Long Jump and distance for most of my time there. When it comes to Music, I am a huge Disney nerd at heart and really enjoy the world of musicals. I feel the songs can really resonate to real life and you can really insert the songs into any emotion you are feeling.

Which types of activity, movement and/or workouts do you currently do?: This spring I was training for a half marathon and completed that in April. I have no desire to go for that distance again anytime in the future but really just wanted to do it to say that I did it. I really prefer the 5k's and 10k's paces that are done. Also this winter I really got into weightlifting again. I enjoy being able to put the pressures of the day into my workout and separating my work and home life with getting a workout in before the change in my gym basement. I am really hoping soon to get a barbell and weights to add to this routine to even further the strength training.

Which eating style and/or types of foods do you currently eat?: I am counting calories and macros. I dont have a specific target for anything just consistently monitoring them in order to make sure on some days im not eating to much and on other days I am eating enough depending on my mood. I would say before this journey I was more of a savory type guy but I can for sure tell as I get farther into the journey that sweets are a go to more and more but on a smaller scale. Maybe that is because my relationship with food has become where there are no bad things in moderation.

What advice would/do you give your current self around eating and exercise?: Working eating and exercise around your life. Don’t work your life around eating and exercise. There are going to be days when you have no control on getting everything correct in your eating and you may not get a workout in and I use to feel super guilty about that about how I was somehow failing myself if I did not get this in. But rather I was living my life. Well actually I wasnt because I was living around it and not putting it around living my life. Also take everything day to day, Eventually the good days will start to add up and the "bad" days where you dont feel you did as well you will begin to notice dont add up as quickly as the good days. But everyday you get to wake up is a blessing. We need to treat it as that.

What advice would you give someone that's starting/restarting around eating and exercise?: Don't look at anyone "ahead" of you on your journey and think you are failing. This is your journey. Only you can grade you. No one else can. I got so into the comparison journey when I first started that I think it truly held me back in what I could be in the start. I wasn't focused on me but rather focused on what others were doing and why wasn't I where they were/are. That was a major poison to my start. A lot of self head games. Now, I decided to come alongside those people and cheer for them and they cheer for me. Such a healthier relationship with self and others and it really helped me in the focus on me and the ability in others to form that community and cheer them on with their progress.

What development resources do you recommend? "Doesn't have to be fitness related.": I am a big believer in what got me started Hasfit.com. I have moved on from them for now but truly it is what helped me get my start. I am forever grateful to that entirely free website for getting me started on my journey when I had no idea what it was that I was doing.
